Our United State Government (that’s yours and mine) is cruelly and endlessly concentrating immigrant children and adults in separated caged camps with concrete floors, no shade, no beds, no privacy in the hot sun of the Texas/Mexico border. Right now, as you read this! We are denying these innocent people drinking water (telling them to drink out of the toilet), toothbrushes, soap, and other routine, hygienic and humane services and items. Sadly, some desperate mothers, fathers and small children are dying trying to get to the US only to be cruelly separated and caged if they make it. We cannot separate ourselves from this practice. It is our Government that is doing it; not “theirs”. We are a country “..indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All.”
On Friday July 12 at 7:00 PM Indivisible Door County will be joining people from around the country to emotionally and silently stand with these innocent victims of our Government’s cruelty. We will gather at the Market Square Parking Lot in front of City Hall in Sturgeon Bay and silently with candles, lights, signs, and prayers symbolically “cross the border” by walking across the Steel Bridge and back. Please join us. Northeastern Wisconsin stands with these innocent victims of US Policy. Help us send a visual message to our elected officials that they need to stand up and be counted on the right side of history.
Also on Friday July 12, from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM there will be a Companion Vigil at the Schoolhouse Beach Pavilion on Washington Island. A short meditation will precede moments of silence and concerns and a free will offering collection for those volunteers serving the victims of this policy in the border region. For more information see below.

Whether you join us on Washington Island or in Sturgeon Bay, or not please contact Rep. Mike Gallagher and Senators Ron Johnson and Tammy Baldwin and demand that this practice as well as other despicable border and immigration actions of the US Department of Homeland Security be stopped immediately. More information about the vigil can be obtained at [email protected]. Information on Indivisible is available at www.indivisibledoorcountty.com
See you on the 12th of July.
