Why Tammy Baldwin Has My Vote

The race for Wisconsin’s US Senate seat is heating up. Some of the tv ads that I’ve see against Tammy Baldwin are filled with negative innuendo and outright mistruths.

Here are some facts about Senator Baldwin and her record during her 6 years in the US Senate. She serves on 12 Senate subcommittees. From January 2013 to August 2018 Tammy Baldwin missed 6 of 1,677 roll call votes in the US Senate, which is 0.4%. This is better than the median of 1.5% among lifetime records of senators currently serving. This fact is from govtrack.us which keeps track of all members of congress.

On February 27, 2018 Senator Baldwin was honored by the Disabled American Veteran’s Association with the Senate Legislator of the Year Award. She was recognized for her work to combat the opioid epidemic and to fund critical veterans programs and services.

Another fact about Tammy Baldwin’s legislative record ( this was reported in the Peninsula Pulse) is that she sponsored bipartisan legislation which will fund Made in Wisconsin Shipbuilding. This funding is for the building of 3 Littoral Combat Ships. In the same legislation, the National Defense Authorization Act, Senator Baldwin helped secure nearly $30 million for military construction and family housing projects at Wisconsin’s Fort McCoy.

Tammy Baldwin doesn’t have to build herself up with misleading and untrue ads. Her record and awards speak for themselves. Most importantly, she’s willing to work on bipartisan legislation as she did with Senator John McCain. On May 16, 2017 Senator Baldwin and Senator McCain co-sponsored a bill that would require drug companies to justify steep price increases. This can be verified by checking the US Senate records.

Tammy’s got my vote this November.
