Façade of “Populism” Comes Crashing Down

With the passage of the Republican tax cut bill for billionaires and millionaires the charade is publicly exposed.  Under the proposed Republican/Trump plans 11 million Americans lose their health insurance because the Affordable Care Act mandate may be removed as part of this so called tax plan and more than half of the middle class and most of the poor will actually have their taxes increased.  Get ready for Donald Trump and Republicans to advocate for cutting Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.  This past week Ryan and others have already started talking about taking down these safety nets.  Next they will be recommending cutting programs for the sick, the poor, and the elderly.  That is most of us!

Populism. as defined by Wikipedia. means “support for the concerns of ordinary people” – or being in support of the common man or woman or child.  These bills are the exact opposite and favor wealthy persons/donors and corporations over those of us who are “ordinary.”  The charade is over!  Now we must elect new representatives in Washington and in our state who really care about our needs; who really are populists who support ordinary people!
